Using the Electronic Push Button Lock

While mechanical push button locks work fine for most locations, there are some places where the electronic push button door lock would be preferable to install. Mechanical locks are somewhat restricted with the amount of access codes you can use, and they do not have any real programmable features that allow different access at different times. This is where the electronic lock differs. With the electronic lock you can have many different pin codes authorizing access to different sets of people at different times.  You can also have times where certain functions override others, and in general there is a lot more you can do with the electric push button lock.

They are perfect to use in busy office complexes, or factories or hospitals where there are different work shifts for example. Anywhere there are a lot of people needing to have access to a building should consider installing an electronic lock. It does away completely with the need for anyone to have a key, and for all of the complications that arise when trying to keep track of a large number of keys–something that can be a real headache to do. If someone gets ahold of the pin code for the electronic lock it is a simple matter to change the pin code and inform those who need to know.  If a key gets stolen, that is a much bigger deal. You have to change the lock, and then get hundreds of keys made and pass them onto everyone.

While not exactly a con when it comes to the electronic lock, but more something that needs to be kept in mind; this type of lock needs to be hooked up to some sort of power source. Quite often these locks can be battery powered. Some, especially the larger units, may need to be hooked up to the electricity, which means that installation of these models is also a bit more complex.

Still, they are the lock of choice not only for many office or apartment buildings but also for many homes these days as well.
